God the Father has never stopped His passion of revealing
Himself to us so that we can have a loving relationship with Him. We read in Jeremiah
31:3, “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With
unfailing love, I have drawn you to myself.” This reminds me of James
4:8, “Come close to God, and God will come close to you.”
Our Heavenly Father has no intentions of hiding or making
it difficult to draw near to Him for a loving, personal and intimate relationship
with Him through His Son, Jesus. Our only requirement is that we want this
relationship desperately enough to pursue it.
We must make the decision as well as the effort for such a
personal relationship. Jeremiah 29:13, “If you look for me
wholeheartedly, you will find me.” It isn’t a matter of whether or not you
have never heard of Him, lost touch through neglect, allowed life’s
circumstances to affect your beliefs negatively, or have had your faith awakened
to this opportunity. The fact remains, God wants to be found and have a
relationship with you.
God the Father made all the arrangements, worked out the
plans, took the initiative and even paid the price (John 3:16), in order to
have this relationship with you. In fact, He went even further to deliver this
plan personally “in the flesh” through Jesus His Son.
We celebrate that truth every year in the Christmas season
of Advent. This is the Latin word “Adventus” that means “coming.”
God has come to us “in the flesh” and revealed Himself to the world. The Bible
refers to this as “the great mystery of our faith.”
1 Timothy 3:16, “Without
question, this is the great mystery of our faith: Christ was revealed in a
human body and vindicated by the Spirit. He was seen by angels and announced to
the nations. He was believed in throughout the world and taken to heaven in
glory.”
The good news is that you don’t need to fully understand it
all at first. Just be willing to accept it as true and welcome God’s amazing
love fully into your life. Paul yearned for us to know and experience this great
love.
Ephesians 3:17-19, “And
I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together
with all the Lord’s holy people, grasp how wide and long and high and deep is
the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may
be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
What a most blessed time to welcome Jesus Christ into your
life than the season of “Adventous” when we remember the time that God came
to earth and revealed Himself personally to us in the flesh of His newborn Son,
Jesus in order to save us.
Romans 10:13, “Everyone who
calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” May you call out to Jesus and
ask Him to come to you personally this Advent season. He will gladly take you
up on your request because in all honesty, He’s been waiting for you to ask! “Adventus!”
God has come in Christ Jesus His Son. Welcome Him!
